Saving our Brighter Children From SCHOOL Drugs...

Opinion by Consumer Advocate Tim Bolen

March 30th, 2003

Sanity is returning to our government.

For years our brightest school children have been forced into using psychiatric/psychotropic medication (Ritalin, etc.) as a condition of staying in school. Giggling, once too often in class, has brought a version of drug hell to unsuspecting families.

School districts had found out that they can get $350 a month for every kid they can stick on a mind altering drug. 1,000 kids on Ritalin becomes big bucks.

Single, or low income, parents had found out that that can get $350 dollars a month (tax free) for each of their kids they would agree to stick on a mind altering drug. Four kids on Ritalin is $1,400 (tax free) a month. An SUV plus...

Remember Columbine? The "Trench-Coat Mafia" was made up of those kids who had to stand in line in the hallway every day to get their "psychiatric/psychotropic medication" from the school nurse.  That's why they were outcasts.

That's about to be stopped - nationwide - if you help get Federal Bill (HR 1170) passed. I'll show you what you have to do in a minute. It's simple and effective.

Unfit teachers, and untrained "school nurses," acting under color of authority, right now, have the power to permanently ruin a child's life (your child or grandchild), their expectations, and the expectations of their parents and families, with the sweep of a pen. Failure by parents to agree to doping their children could result in Child Protective Services seizing ALL of the children in a family, and potentially injecting all of them with mind-control drugs.

But, On March 11, 2003, the House Committee on Education and the Workforce of the U.S. House of Representatives introduced a bill called the "Child Medication Safety Act of 2003." (H.R. 1170).

According to the Citizen's Commission On Human Rights (http://www.cchr.org/) "This bill is a federal response to the numerous states (19 at last count) that have introduced or passed bills and/or resolutions that protect parents from school personnel coercing them into placing their children on drugs as a requisite for school. Representative Max Burns (R-GA), who sponsored the bill, also commented that this issue was raised in a hearing held by the US Government Reform Committee last September."

They also say: "There is one minor amendment needed in the bill. Currently the mandate being asked of federally funded state schools relates to Schedule II drugs only. This includes stimulants like Ritalin and Adderall and the amphetamine, Dexedrine. It doesn't include another well-known stimulant, Cylert, which is not a Schedule II drug. There are also other psychotropic medications that are being forced on children in schools and which are not covered by Schedule II, including well-known antidepressants. As such, the bill, once passed, should include all psychotropic drugs, under the term "psychiatric/psychotropic medication."

CCHR also says that: what this bill, in its final form should say is:  "As a condition of receiving funds under any program or activity administered by the Secretary of Education, each State shall develop and implement policies and procedures prohibiting school personnel from requiring a child to obtain a prescription for any psychiatric/psychotropic medication as a condition of attending school or receiving services."

You can their further comments on the front page at http://www.cchr.org/. They have a "How to" on how to contact your Senator or House Representative, and what to say to them...

As an American - you need to do this. It's time to stop the insanity of officially drugging our schoolchildren.
